BERNARD DURKAN T.D.

Some of my contribution to the Joint Oireachtas Finance Committee last week where the withdrawal of Ulster Bank and KBC was being discussed.
“The customer has no choice in the matter. It is not really replacing the service the customer had with a new one, hence there is a negative from the customer’s point of view. I would have thought particular effort would be made for business and personal account holders to try to continue as they previously were…
I therefore ask that be borne in mind and that perhaps in the exchanges the officials have with the receiving banks, they would be reminded of that as well. All things being equal, we expect to be treated with a certain amount of equality.”
