Transport, Tourism and Sport | Transportation infrastructure realignment notices

To ask the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport if adequate provision is being made to ensure that existing roads, bus stops and train stations, that may be due for realignment in the future will have due regard for existing residents and communities and that this be borne in mind at all times; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

REPLY

New national road schemes, including realignments of national roads, are designed in accordance with Transport Infrastructure Ireland’s (TII’s) ‘Project Management Guidelines’ (TII, 2017). These guidelines include provision for non-statutory public consultation, which is carried out in advance of the statutory planning approval process. Every effort is made to engage with the public in this development process. The process also includes engagement with other transport agencies, such as Irish Rail and the National Transport Authority (NTA) as appropriate.

I hope that this information is of assistance to you.
