To ask the Minister for Health the current position in regard to the long-promised
extension of facilities at Naas General Hospital; the extent, if any, to which the
originally planned-for facilities have been or are being provided; if particular
deficiencies have emerged during the Covid pandemic or thereafter; the extent to
which particular shortcomings have been identified, including the adequacy of
staffing levels, that are intended to be provided for in the short to medium term; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Single beds with toilet facilities were identified as a critical requirement during the covid 19 pandemic. A 12 single-bedroom ensuite facility is currently under construction and is due to be operational in quarter 1 of 2023.
Staffing has been identified/recruited for the additional beds when the single beds are operational.
Management has continued to prioritise the Endoscopy and Physical Medicines New
Building planned and continues to engage with HSE estates on the capital build which is subject to funding but expected to be completed in 2029.
